Masankho Banda, international InterPlay ambassador and WING IT! Performance Ensemble member, and InterPlay founders Cynthia Winton-Henry and Phil Porter, will lead a group of travelers to the village of Tukombo in Malawi in central Africa for two weeks of connecting and playing in August 2007. What a wonderful way to make a life-changing visit to Africa, surrounded by folks who are committed to ease and community, led by someone with an intimate knowledge of the area who can help us see the country and its people in direct and personal ways.
The purpose of this blog is to share information about the trip for those going and for those who will be connected from afar. Since we see this as a powerful community experience, we want as many people as possible to share in it, whether they can go or not. In InterPlay language, the group will be “traveling on behalf of” the entire InterPlay community.

A group of over 40 InterPlayers and friends will travel this August (5th-20th) to Malawi, the homeland of InterPlay leader Masankho Banda. We will go to learn, play, connect, make new friends, and to be changed. InterPlay founders Cynthia Winton-Henry and Phil Porter will co-lead the trip with Masankho.

Hello from Elaine in Northern Minnesota...I am just finished doing the UBBH with so many Interplayers in Minneapolis, and excited to get to play and meet som many of the people that will be going to Malawi in August. I have spent many hours of my life longing to go to Africe--to dance-- to watch dance, I thought, and woudn't it be amazing if I could somehow dance with them? It was always left as an open ended question, an open ended desire. When the opportunity came up to go, there was not even a moments hesitation. I am working hard through June and July, at my job and on family matters, to tie things together so I can be free to go an enjoy the time with all of you, and our new friends in Malawi.
